What is CBD Tea? Everything You Need to Know

In short, CBD tea is a type of herbal tea that has been infused with cannabidiol (CBD), a non-psychoactive substance found in hemp plants. CBD teas can come in a variety of formulas and flavours. Some even include additional ingredients with claimed health benefits, such as mint for congestion or chamomile to help sleep.

Does CBD Tea Get You High?

In short – no, CBD tea will not get you high, or any other CBD product for that matter. This is because CBD is a non-psychoactive compound found in the hemp plant, which means it does not produce the same mind-altering effects as THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the psychoactive compound of the plant.

CBD tea typically contains only trace amounts of THC (less than 0.2%), which is not enough to cause a “high”.

What Are the Benefits of CBD Tea?

CBD tea is not a medication or a supplement, however, traditional medicine practitioners have used hemp and cannabis products for thousands of years to manage many health conditions.

Health benefits of CBD tea include:

  • Better quality sleep – CBD drinks have been shown to have potential sleep and relaxation benefits.
  • Stress and anxiety relief – One study found that CBD reduced symptoms of stress and anxiety in 93.3% of cases
  • Relief from acute and chronic pain and inflammation – CBD is known for its anti-inflammatory qualities, which can help to alleviate pain and inflammation.

How To Make CBD Tea

There are a number of different ways you can make CBD tea, depending on your preferences and the ingredients you have in the house. The tea can be consumed hot or cold, and may be flavoured with natural herbs or fruits to enhance its taste. You might also decide to add milk if you like.

3 ways you can make CBD tea include:

1. CBD Infused Tea Bags

The first and easiest way to consume CBD tea is by using pre-made CBD infused tea bags. Simply steep the tea bag in hot water for a few minutes, as you would a normal tea bag, and your CBD tea is ready to drink.

Not only are CBD tea bags a quick and easy way to drink CBD, they help you get a more accurate dose, and you have complete peace of mind that the formula is tested and regulated.

Where to buy CBD tea bags

You can purchase CBD tea bags online or at a local health food store. However, when buying CBD tea bags, ensure you choose reputable, trusted brands that only use high-quality, lab-tested CBD and are transparent about their ingredients and manufacturing processes.

We always recommend that you double check a brand to ensure its products follow the current CBD regulations. Manufacturers should provide a COA (Certificate of Analysis) which confirms if what a business is advertising is legitimate. This is carried out by a third-party source rather than the manufacturer to ensure accurate results.

2. CBD Oil

Another popular way to make CBD tea is to add CBD oil to your normal tea. To do this. start by brewing a cup of tea using your favourite tea blend. Then, add a few drops of CBD oil to your tea and stir well for a good few seconds, mixing it as much as you can.  It’s worth noting that CBD oil might not always mix well with water, so you may want to add a small amount of milk to help the CBD oil dissolve.

3. CBD Flowers

This option is for those who prefer a more natural approach – using dried CBD flowers. First, with a grinder or mortar and pestle,  grind the CBD flower down. Next, add the ground flower to a tea infuser and steep in hot water for a few minutes. If the strong, herbal flavour of the flower is too much, try adding a splash or milk or sweetener to balance it out.
